Our current statistics indicate that 2-4% of youth are affected by FASD in the United States and UK, yet every study highlights how these numbers vastly underrepresent the prevalence of this disorder. This session will explore what we know understand about the causes, impact, and wide-spread effect of FASD on children, families, and broader society. From micro-level realities to system-wide impact, we will review the social, fiscal, and sociopolitical truths related to health equity and how to better understand this complex phenomenon.
