THE RIGHT DOSE
Senior Overdose Prevention
An ongoing summit designed to educate and empower seniors, caregivers, home health workers, family, and other professionals about safe medication practices.
In addition to tackling the challenges of medication misuse and overdose, the summit explores the vital link between medication management and mental health. Attendees will gain access to valuable tools, resources, and strategies to support well-being in their communities.
This event brings together healthcare professionals, community leaders, and advocates to share best practices and deliver actionable solutions that help older adults stay safe, supported, and empowered.

What Is It?
The Right Dose Senior Overdose Summit brings older adults, caregivers, families, and health professionals together to explore medication safety, overdose prevention, and whole-person wellness.
Through engaging presentations, practical demonstrations, and open conversations, participants learn about medication mistakes, prescription interactions, and risks associated with combining medicines with alcohol, supplements, or herbs. The Summit also addresses intentional medication misuse and the role that pain, depression, and loneliness can play in an older adult’s well-being.
Each event features a rotating group of local presenters, panelists, and vendors, bringing community perspectives, education, and resources tailored to the needs of older adults and those who support them.
Levels Unlocked offers participants a demonstration of senior gaming, highlighting its benefits for staying engaged, building connections, and supporting overall wellness.
In partnership with Levels Unlocked and Dr. Melita Moore, MACC is working to bring The Right Dose to communities across Ohio—connecting participants with information, resources, and meaningful activities that support physical, emotional, and mental health.

Small Steps for Safer Medication Use
- Keep a complete medication list. Include prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, supplements, and herbs. Record doses and timing, and share the list with your pharmacist and health care providers.
- Follow your prescribed plan. Ask about tools or reminders to track doses. Talk with your health care provider before changing or stopping a prescription.
- Ask before taking more. If you missed a dose or cannot remember whether you took it, ask your pharmacist what to do. Do not guess or double up on your own.
- Check for interactions. Ask your pharmacist about combining medicines with alcohol, supplements, herbs, food, or other medications.
Your Well-Being Matters, Too
Medication safety is part of a larger conversation about wellness. If pain, depression, grief, or loneliness is affecting your daily life, talk with a health care or mental health professional about support. Caregivers and family members can help by listening without judgment and asking what support would be useful.
Make room for connection through people, community activities, and interests you enjoy. You deserve opportunities to participate, be heard, and receive care that respects your culture, language, and individual needs.
