MACC Training – Brave Space: Understanding Domestic Violence Through a Trauma-Informed Lens
October 29 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Domestic violence is more than an individual experience. It is a complex issue shaped by trauma, power, control, relationships, culture, systems, and access to resources.
Brave Space: Understanding Domestic Violence Through a Trauma-Informed Lens provides participants with a foundational understanding of domestic violence while moving beyond common myths and assumptions about why people stay, why they may return to an abusive relationship, and what support should look like.
Using a trauma-informed and survivor-centered approach, participants will explore the dynamics of power and control, common trauma responses, barriers to safety, and the ways well-intentioned responses can unintentionally create shame, disconnection, or re-traumatization.
The training emphasizes practical, compassionate responses that preserve survivor autonomy and dignity. Participants will leave with greater confidence in recognizing domestic violence, responding to disclosures, and creating safer interactions and organizational environments.
