Volunteers begin putting together extra meals to leave for those unable to attend.

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, MACC joined 106.7 The Beat The City Show with City Newwss and for Feeding the Community. The event was held at one of several former hotel properties in the area that are now being used for transitional living.

The gathering took on added urgency following severe storms—including a tornado—that moved through the area the previous day and caused widespread power outages. In response, local organizations and volunteers came together quickly to provide a freshly prepared meal and additional supportive resources.

Residents from all of the transitional-living properties were invited to attend and encouraged to spread the word to others who could benefit. MACC was proud to provide sponsorship and teamwork for the event, helping make it possible for attendees to enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Catered by Chaneice.

Many of the people who received meals and resources expressed profound gratitude for the assistance. Volunteers worked to meet every request with kindness and respect, and no one was turned away—regardless of how many meals they requested.

Extra meals and resource items were also left at the property so that individuals who were unable to attend during the event could still receive support. This helped extend the effort beyond those who were able to be present and ensured that more residents could benefit.

Beyond providing food, the event created an opportunity for attendees to connect with helpful information and community resources in a welcoming environment. Every person was treated with dignity, compassion, and care.

Feeding the Community demonstrated what can happen when organizations respond collaboratively and compassionately to an immediate community need. MACC appreciates 106.7 The Beat -The City Show with City Newwss, Catered by Chaneice, and the volunteers who helped bring the effort together.
