MACC’s November 2025 Newsletter

ISSUE #6

Here’s what has happened, and here’s what’s to come!

Gratitude and Growth!

As we step into November, our team at MACC is reflecting on a season filled with connection, learning, and gratitude. October was an inspiring month—one that reminded us of the power of collaboration and continued growth. We were proud to host multiple trainings across Ohio, including sessions focused on Areas of Competence in Behavioral Health for Providers, Grief Recovery for Children, and Trauma-Informed Care. Each offered meaningful opportunities for learning, reflection, and dialogue, reinforcing the shared commitment of providers and community members to advance behavioral health and equity across our state.

We were also honored to represent MACC at the Multicultural CommUNITY Resource Fair, the Ohio Asian American Health Coalition’s 20th Anniversary Dinner & Awards, and to complete Phase 2 of our Staff Retreat, where our team came together to align goals, strengthen relationships, and build strategies that will guide our work in the years ahead.

This time of year reminds us how much we have to be thankful for. We extend our sincere gratitude to our grant sponsors whose support allows us to grow our programs and expand our reach, and to our CEU provider sponsors, whose partnership ensures that high-quality, accredited learning opportunities remain accessible to professionals across Ohio. We are equally grateful for our trainers, facilitators, and community networks—the individuals and organizations who bring our mission to life through their expertise, collaboration, and trust.

As we look toward the final weeks of 2025, we’re excited to offer our remaining trainings in November and to continue connecting with those who share our vision for culturally responsive, compassionate care. From all of us at MACC, thank you for your continued partnership, dedication, and belief in the work we do together.

MACC Out and About!

Multicultural CommUNITY Resource Fair – OSU Fawcett Center

Tillie Woods and Kimberli Anding represented MACC at the Multicultural CommUNITY Resource Fair. The event was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local organizations, community leaders, and residents. They had meaningful conversations about MACC’s mission and explored potential opportunities to support organizations, serve communities, and collaborate on future initiatives. It was energizing to see how many people share MACC’s commitment to building stronger, more connected communities.

OAAHC 20th Anniversary Dinner & Awards – The Boat House, Columbus

Jon Moorehead II and Sarah Henry were honored to attend and sponsor the Ohio Asian American Health Coalition’s 20th Anniversary Dinner & Awards celebration. The event featured powerful presentations reflecting on the Coalition’s history and ongoing impact, as well as moving speeches from Community Leader and Lifetime Achievement Award recipients and their families. The evening concluded with a captivating Lion Dance performance by members of Pi Delta Psi Fraternity. It was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate two decades of advocacy, collaboration, and progress in advancing health equity across Ohio’s Asian American communities.

MACC Staff Retreat– Shine Bright Community Center

Staff Retreat – Phase 2

At the end of October, the MACC team completed Phase 2 of the Staff Retreat, focusing on strategic alignment and goal setting. Each staff member conducted an individual SWOT analysis, identifying personal strengths, areas for growth, and ways to contribute to MACC’s overall success. Guided by the strategic objectives shared by our Executive Director, the team collaborated to develop SMART goals that align with MACC’s 2025–2028 strategic priorities. All feedback and responses are being compiled into a comprehensive strategic plan spreadsheet that will serve as a roadmap for continued growth, accountability, and impact in the years ahead.

How to Start the Right Conversation

The holidays often bring families together — creating a natural, supportive moment to check in on loved ones who may be struggling with substance use. Whether it’s a quiet one-on-one conversation or a gentle expression of concern, taking that first step can open the door to healing, understanding, and support. Even a simple “How have you really been feeling lately?” can make a meaningful difference.

MACC is currently developing a more robust initiative around The Right Conversation, focused on helping families and communities navigate difficult discussions with care and confidence. In the months ahead, we’ll be rolling out tools, resources, and talking tips to support these conversations, along with related events and learning opportunities.

More details are coming soon — we look forward to equipping you with what you need to speak, listen, and heal together.

As the year begins to wind down, I’ve found myself reflecting on just how far we’ve come—and how much stronger we’ve become together. Each training, partnership, and community event this year has reminded me of the incredible dedication that surrounds MACC. Whether through expanding our reach, deepening relationships, or aligning our strategic goals for the future, this has been a year of meaningful progress grounded in purpose.

Gratitude is more than a seasonal reflection for us—it’s part of our foundation. I am deeply grateful for our staff, who continue to show up each day with creativity, care, and commitment. I’m equally thankful for our trainers and facilitators, whose expertise brings our programs to life and strengthens the behavioral health field across Ohio. To our grant sponsors and CEU provider partners, your belief in our mission ensures that high-quality, accessible education remains available to those who need it most. And to our community networks—thank you for your collaboration, your trust, and your shared vision of a healthier, more equitable Ohio.

As we prepare to close out 2025 and look ahead to the possibilities of 2026, I’m reminded that meaningful change doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes intention, partnership, and the willingness to keep learning from one another. My hope is that we continue to nurture these connections, celebrate our progress, and step into the new year with renewed energy and optimism for the work ahead.
