On May 20th - Stand Up With Our Governor, Who Is Standing Up For Us! (8:00 AM - 9:00 AM)

Last week, Governor John Kasich joined mental health advocates from around the state on the Statehouse steps to help raise awareness about mental illness.   In his remarks, the Governor urged the participants, "to let people know about what your life is like. We have to tell people about why it matters, and who the folks are that have to battle each and every day the challenges that come with mental illness."

Expanding Medicaid, the Governor said, would provide coverage for treatment for many people who now have none, coverage needed "to be able to give you help, hope, and as best as possible, a normal life."

On May 20th Ohioans are coming together in cities and communities across the state to stand up for healthy communities.  Below is a list of events that are scheduled across Ohio.  Please try to attend the event nearest to you.  If you're not able to attend an event, please join a statewide call-in day to our state leaders and tell them this:

"We can't afford to miss out on the historic opportunity to extend health care coverage to Ohio families and communities. Will you take leadership now and support Medicaid reform? Please restore healthcare expansion by June 30th."

Your voice does make a difference!

Join the "Who's Leading the Leading Health Indicators?" webinar on May 23 as experts discuss the issue of mental illness. The 45-minute webinar will be led by Dr. Don Wright, HHS Deputy Assistant Secretary for Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. The webinar will feature the success of the White Mountain Apache tribe in using data-driven decisions and interventions to address youth suicide.
